The person who owned the car previously bought an extended warranty. It was supposed to be offered to us and it wasn't (it was free of charge). Now we are having trouble and they don't know how to handle it. We feel they messed up by not telling us she had this and offering it to us.

Most warranties are none transferrable

You need to read the warranty. Many are transferrable but also require a re-registration fee.

Only if the seller hands the new owner the service contract agreement, and the id card with the contract number. However, when you go in for service, you may need to use the previous owners name. Usually extended warrantee companies will not allow 2nd party benefits.

Usually if the car changes owners the extended warranty is cancelled, but you should check with the insurance company that has issued the extended warranty.the person you bought the car from may have transferred the warranty to another vehicle ??
